Dos and Don'ts When Buying Digital Cameras for Kids

By Jon Moreno

In the past, digital cameras are only regarded as gadgets for adults. But nowadays, even kids can enjoy the many features that a digital camera has to offer. Thanks to manufacturers that think that they too should enjoy these geek gadgets.

But then, even with the wide range of options for this type of gadget, buying one can still be very challenging. So, if you are thinking about getting one for your kid, better consider these things.

Do check the camera if how much is its storage capacity and if it features expandable memory. It won't be fun for your kids if they suddenly run out of space while on a school trip or vacation. So, to ensure that your kids will have fun taking pictures all throughout, do not settle on camera with built-in memory but instead, get one that has an expandable memory.

Two, look closely at the camera's mega pixels feature - the one that decides the clarity of the image taken. Basically, cameras designed for kids only offer 0.3 to 1 megapixel, which often result in blurred images. So, if you want your kids to enjoy high quality images, then stick to digital cameras with more than 1 megapixel.

USB connection for transferring data. As stated above, digital cameras' limited memory space often leaves your kids no choice but to delete some images. So, to save them from doing this over and over, make sure that you get a camera that includes a USB connection for transferring data.

And four, get a camera that has flash. This is very important for indoor shots. Although kids tend to use their cameras more outdoors, still it is better if they have an option to set the flash on so they can take pictures even at night and in the dark.

Buying digital cameras for kids can really be very challenging if you don't know these things to consider. So, the next time you buy digital cameras for your kids, be sure to keep these in mind. - 32363
